Her and her lovers sat in this position for hours.

Yoko Ono-
**She wasn't recognized in the art world until a partner advocated for her artwork.
“Her wide-ranging artistic expression encompasses film, sculpture, text, performance, music and artwork. Although eclectic in nature, her work has been often greeted with incomprehension, mockery and even rage.”
Women had to fight for their place in every industry. Yoko Ono’s story is heartbreaking and she was met with so much adversity. Rage is an interesting reaction to her work. I believe her work is an emotional release. Ono’s artwork should offer people comfort.
“Interestingly enough, this artwork also displays her deep influence of Zen Buddhism, as Ono stated recently, when she was creating the controversial piece, she was originally thinking of Buddha and how he gave everything up.”
She is speaking on her performance Cut Piece. The performance represents what it’s like to be a woman. In essence, to be a woman is to give up everything. She completely surrenders to the audience and lets them do whatever they'd like. Men mock her and take advantage of her state.
Shawn Leonardo-
“However, it was in the mentality of striving for the best that I was also taught that success meant economic stability and mobility.”
Poor people are essentially stuck in their situations. Financially, people can inherit generational wealth or generational curses. Money offers comfort, hope, and is an essential tool to be used throughout life.
“Most important, I think, was whenever I saw a master, " codified “master,” at the Metropolitan Museum. Somehow, I [don’t] recall ever being dissuaded [by the fact] that those “masters” were all dead white men. I found myself seeing these “great artworks” and believing I could achieve that.”
Shawn has a very strong sense of self and I admire his mindset on life. If he didn't believe in his artwork, he wouldn't have a career. Personally, when I visit museums I don't believe I can be a master. It's almost like I'm stepping into the art world. For a day. But the thought of actually being a grandeur artist, never sunk in as a reality.

Marina Abramovic-
“When she wakes up, she will have had a dream. And then she’ll make her work. So, she counts her sleep as working hours. Many artists get their best ideas from their dreams or in a state of complete tranquility. I hate the studio. It’s a trap to me. Ideas come from life.”
An artist's creative process fascinates me. People have the power to create their own studio. Marina Abramovic’s studio is her environment.
“He embraced everything about himself. He saved himself in that way. He created his own world. And he is about glamor, money and trash” -talking about Andy Warhol
Every artists has their own world. Their own inner world.
How To See Yourself
“The selfie depicts the drama of our own daily presence of ourselves, in tension with our inner emotions that may or may not be expressed as we wish.”
We curate our social media profiles. Some people create brand new personalities to portray online. It’s rare for an authentic moments to be posted on social media. Personally, I can always tell how someone feels by their eyes in a photo. Some people have sad eyes.
“In both the pre encounter Americans and medieval Europe, the mirror was a place of divination, where fortunes were told and where contact could be made with the dead and other spirits. In short, the mirror is a visual bridge between past, present, and future.”
The depiction of mirrors in old paintings is beautiful. They were portals to other worlds.
