For my collage I took inspirations from two main artists. Those artist are Ben Jones, and Hannah Hoch. I was heavily inspired by his Women of Jazz Pieces where he celebrated these famous women entertainers. I wanted to do that but at a larger scale. One with more than just jazz singers. I wanted to do all black female entertainers in the music industry. Another way I was inspired by Ben Jones was by his "Deliver the Funk" piece. All those lines and the colors next to a black a white who gives it such life. it feels like a celebration of blackness. That is what I was going for. A celebration. And acknowledge owning of all the great black female entertainers who have walk this earth. For Hannah Hoch. I was mainly grabbed by the style. The way she had all these political figures of the day and architecture woven together into one piece was vey intriguing. That's the style I wanted to do for the collage. So I also looked at some architecture. Places important to the black community to put up with these women. The one main difference from Hannah Koch and myself with the artwork we've made is her's is a lot more negative. She was aiming to criticize. I was aiming to celebrate.
